وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَمْلَيْتُ لَهَا وَهِىَ ظَالِمَةٌ ثُمَّ أَخَذْتُهَا وَإِلَىَّ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
And how many a city there is to which I gave respite, while it was given to wrongdoing. Then I seized it, and unto Me is the return.

اور کتنی ہی بستیاں ہیں جنہیں میں نے مہلت دی جبکہ وہ ظالم تھیں۔ پھر میں نے اُن کو پکڑ لیا۔ اور میری ہی طرف لوٹنا ہے۔

اور کتنی ہی بستیاں ہیں جن کو (پہلے تو) میں نے مہلت دی حالانکہ وہ ظلم کر رہی تھیں۔ پھر میں نے ان کو پکڑ لیا اور میری ہی طرف سب نے لوٹ کر آنا ہے۔

And how many a city I have respited, while it was given to wrongdoing. Then I seized it, and unto Me is the return.

Commentary:
The verse is of general application but it specially alludes to the punishment in store for the peoples mentioned in the preceding verses.

کتنی ہی بستیاں ہیں جو ظالم تھیں، میں نے ان کو پہلے مہلت دی، پھر پکڑ لیا اور سب کو واپس تو میرے پاس ہی آنا ہے
